Thoughts for Today
.
A few years ago, a newly elected politician proclaimed, “We are the children of the modern age!”
.
If this is true, a good question for us to ask is, “What has the modern age given us?” The answers that come to mind are disheartening: crack cocaine, satanic cults, instructions on safe sex, misdirected individuals who would rather save a spotted owl than an innocent baby inside a mother’s womb.
.
The modern age has given us a liberal media that paints Bible-believing Christians as right-wing zealots and fanatics. It has given us the institutional church, which has become so entwined with the radical left that it is difficult to distinguish between the church and the modern age!
.
Difficulties like these should not surprise us. Paul told Timothy that in the last days:
.
People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient … ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control … lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God; having a form of godliness but denying its power (2 Timothy 3:2-5).
.
Then he cautions us, “Have nothing to do with them” (2 Timothy 3:5). Despite what the world is doing, we can live in victory because we serve a mighty God who provides the wisdom we need for every situation.
.
Prayer: Our Loving Heavenly Father, when the winds of adversity blow hard against my life, help me to take shelter in you. I ask that when hardship and difficulty come that I would grow spiritually and that I would not compromise on Your Truth. Help me to be a witness for You. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, In Jesus Loving Name I Pray, Amen.”
.
Have a Blessed Friday and God Bless you.

China recently declared a controversial new “Air Defense Identification Zone” over the disputed Diaoyu/Senkaku islands. The Chinese government now requires all pilots to file flight plans before entering the airspace. According to Colonel Shen Jinke, spokesman for the Chinese Air Force, “The country’s air force will remain on high alert and will take measures to deal with all air threats to protect national security.” Although Chinese officials claim the “establishment of the zone was completely justified and legitimate,” the move has received international criticism. Pray for tensions to ease between China and Japan.

Pray for Chinese and Japanese leaders to hear the Gospel and believe in Jesus Christ as their Savior.
