Thoughts for Today
.
One thing we quickly discover is that life contains a variety of storms; some are furious and some are subtle. One of the more deadly storms, deception, can blow into our lives without warning. The greatest protection against this formidable storm is to cling to the Truth of God’s Word. It is our best source of instruction. In it we learn that appreciation, reverence, and obedience are three principles that lead to victory in times of trial.
.
Have you made a commitment to study the Bible each day? Do you apply it to the problems, crises, fears, and decisions you face? When you do, you will quickly discover that you are able to face the difficulties of today and the uncertainties of the future with a sense of strong assurance; all because you are grounded in God’s word.
.
Charles Spurgeon said, “When a home is ruled according to the Word of God, angels might be asked to stay a night with us, and they would not find themselves out of their element.”
.
The Bible is our compass through the difficulties of life. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work”(2 Timothy 3:16-17).
.
Make a habit of spending time reading and applying His Word to every area of your life. When you do, you will find hope, encouragement, and strength to face the storms of life.
.
Prayer: Our Loving Heavenly Father, thank you for Your Word. Please forgive me for neglecting it so often. I pray that you would help me to make time in your Word a priority. May the Holy Spirit apply it to my heart so that I may meditate upon it all day long. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, In Jesus Loving Name I Pray, Amen.”
.
Have a Blessed Wednesday and God Bless you.

ETHIOPIA, EAST AFRICA
.
In Addis Ababa, Ethiopian officials arrested dozens of protestors outside the Saudi Arabian embassy. The demonstration was in protest of three Ethiopians that died at the hands of Saudi Arabian police and the deportation of over 23,000 Ethiopians by the Saudi government. According to Shimeles Kemal, a government spokesman, “It was an illegal demonstration; they had not got a permit from the appropriate office. They were fomenting anti-Arab sentiments here among Ethiopians. The police took measures and apprehended some.”
.
Pray for peace and reconciliation between Ethiopians and Saudi Arabians.
.
Ask God to comfort the families of the three Ethiopians that perished.
.
Pray for the smooth repatriation of the thousands of Ethiopians from Saudi Arabia.

MYANMAR (BURMA), SOUTHEAST ASIA
.
The United Nations is calling for an “immediate cessation of hostilities” after fighting between government forces and ethnic rebels displaced approximately 2,000 people. According to Lar Nan, spokesman for the Kachin Independence Army, “Because the troops came in firing their weapons, the villagers and refugees ran away, and there is no one at the camps now.”
.
Pray for a nationwide ceasefire in Myanmar.
.
Pray for lasting peace between the Burmese Army and the Christian Kachin.
.
Ask the Lord to protect His Church in Myanmar from violence, persecution, and harm.

CHAD, CENTRAL AFRICA
.
Prime Minister Joseph Djimrangar Dadnadji and his cabinet resigned before a government censure vote. The resignation occurred after 74 members of his own party charged him with “arbitrary arrests of deputies” and the inability to “manage the actions of government effectively.” However, critics believe President Idriss Deby is the one responsible for the government’s woes. According to Saleh Kebzabo, opposition party leader, “There has never been a prime minister in Chad who has been in charge. Power is concentrated in Idriss Deby’s hands and no one else’s.”
.
Pray for President Deby to seek God’s wisdom and direction in leading Chad.
.
Pray for Believers to share their faith with family and friends.
.
Pray for the Gospel to spread in Chad and throughout Africa.

ALGERIA, NORTH AFRICA
.
In 1881 the first missionaries came to Algeria. One hundred years later (1991) the church started to explode in Algeria. Now there are somewhere between 100,000 – 150,000 Christian Believers mainly among the Kabyle Berbers.
.
Pray that good Christian books would make it into the country.
.
Pray for Christian children: they are struggling because the Algerian schools make them learn the Quran and Quranic teachings.
.
Pray for pastors who are having some of their services filmed to be shown on satellite TV. They are from a Muslim background and being on TV brings an increase of persecution.
.
Pray they will have strength to continue.
