“To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams”. – (1 Samuel 15:22).

Thoughts for Today
.
If we are going to live lives of faith, we must realize that our faith will be tested—not just once but many times over the course of our lifetime. We will experience great joy, but we also will have to face defining moments when the intent of our hearts is revealed and the level of our faith checked.
.
Abraham loved Isaac. Almost every time he looked at his son, he was reminded of the fulfillment of God’s promise to him. He had chosen to believe the Lord even at a point in his life when it seemed impossible to have a solid sense of faith.
.
Then came the day when the Lord made a request of him that did not seem to fit the nature and character of God. “Take your son, your only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains I will tell you about” (Genesis 22:2).
.
Few of us would know how to respond to a command like this one. More than likely, we would pray, “Surely God, You have made a mistake.” But Abraham never questioned God’s reasoning or judgment. Once again, he made preparations to obey the Lord.
.
Early the next morning, he saddled his donkey, gathered two of his servants and his son, and headed out to do what the Lord had asked him to do. Most of us know the conclusion to this story. God provided a ram as the sacrifice.
.
There may be times when the Lord requires you to be willing to give up something that you love deeply. However, He will never require you to harm another. He simply wants to know that your love for Him is not outweighed by something or someone else.
.
Prayer: Our Loving Heavenly Father, You, and You alone, are my first love. I pray that I will live my life in obedience to Your Word. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, In Jesus Loving Name I Pray, Amen.”
.
Have a Blessed Tuesday and God Bless you.

July 2013 saw another change of government in Egypt. Since then, political unrest has been high; on numerous occasions, demonstrations have degenerated into violent clashes between security forces and protesters. These protesters support different political and religious factions and have caused deaths, injuries and extensive property damage.
.
Pray against gender-based violence in and around protest areas where women have been the targets of sexual assault.
.
Pray for the Church that has seen many buildings destroyed and burned.
.
Pray that Christians will be strong and value their lives only in the eyes of God.
.

According to a report by Open Society Foundations, women in Uzbekistan are forcibly sterilized, often without their knowledge, to impede population growth. Natalia Antelava, author of the report and a BBC correspondent, says, “The sterilization campaign by the government is still carrying on, it’s happening everywhere, across Uzbekistan. It hasn’t shown any sign of slowing down in the past five years. The typical story is that the woman gives birth, then tries to get pregnant again, fails to get pregnant, then goes to a doctor and finds out that she has been sterilized. Uzbekistan’s ongoing and systematic forced-sterilization program has affected tens of thousands of women.”
.
Pray for an end to the government’s sterilization program.
.
Pray for government leaders to value women and human life.
.
Pray for President Karimov and other administrative officials to believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

Although it is now illegal to sell young girls into slavery, there are still around 500 kamlaris, or slaves, throughout Nepal. The Nepal Youth Foundation is attempting to locate the girls, supply them with an education, and financially provide for their families. However, it is a difficult task because many Nepalese are unaware that the practice is outlawed, and the government is lax in enforcing the law. Som Paneru, Nepal Youth Foundation President, says, “These girls are losing their childhoods because of the failure of law enforcement by the state. The last remaining kamlaris are the ones who are most difficult to find as they are employed by powerful people.”
.
Pray for the remaining kamlaris to be found, freed, and restored.
.
Pray for the Nepalese government to enforce the law prohibiting child slavery.
.
Pray for the Nepalese Church to share the Gospel with these young girls and their families.

Over the years, the United Arab Emirates and Iran have been in conflict over a few islands in the Persian Gulf. These strategic islands control access to the oil-rich Gulf. The UAE is looking at Iran’s nuclear deal as an opportunity to expand diplomatic relations with Iran. The UAE fears that Iran may ultimately develop nuclear weapons under cover of its disputed nuclear program.
.
Pray that the UAE would play a part in keeping Iran from developing nuclear weapons.
.
Pray for the UAE to have wisdom as it deals with its neighbor across the Gulf.
