Today’s Scripture
.
“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty” – (Psalm 91:1).

Thoughts for Today
.
Once while visiting President Roosevelt in the White House, Wendell Willkie asked, “Mr. President, why do you keep that frail, sickly man—Harry Hopkins—constantly at your elbow?”
.
Without hesitation, Roosevelt replied, “Through that door flows an incessant stream of men and women who almost invariably want something from me. Harry Hopkins only desires to serve and to do that well. He must stay near me.”
.
The same thing can be said of David. When Samuel first saw him, he almost questioned God’s judgment. The Lord’s choice for Israel’s future king was the youngest of Jesse’s sons. He was ruddy in appearance and did not look like kingly material. But Samuel wasn’t able to see David from God’s perspective.
.
Many times, for us to gain God’s perspective we have to be willing to let go of our limited and often personality-skewed viewpoint. David was a man whose heart was devoted to God. He wanted nothing more than to worship the Lord and be close to Him.
.
Much of the book of Psalms was penned by David. Many entries were written while he tended his father’s sheep. He was a content man because he had learned how to practice the presence of God. It was there in his father’s fields that he realized God’s hand was on his life.
.
David was loyal and faithful. And God knew that whatever happened in this young man’s life, he would never abandon his godly faith.
.
Prayer: Lord, make me like David—a person with a heart devoted only to You. Fashion within me a heart of worship like this. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, In Jesus Loving Name I Pray, Amen.”

Have a Blessed Thursday and God Bless you.

ISRAEL, MIDDLE EAST
..
Since peace talks restarted last July, Palestinian attacks on Israeli targets have dramatically increased. In November alone, there were 167 attacks in Jerusalem and the West Bank. The Israeli government is concerned that the recent aggression may indicate a new, rogue Palestinian uprising. Many of the attacks appear to be carried out by individual Palestinians rather than radical groups. According to Moshe Yaalon, Israeli Defense Minister, “This is an unacceptable situation for us and despite the difficulty of dealing with an individual assailant who is incited to kill Jews, we will act with force and in other ways to harm those who try to carry out attacks.”
.
Pray for peace in Israel and throughout the Middle East.
.
Pray for reconciliation between Jews and Palestinians.
.
Ask the Lord to defend the Christian Believers in Israel against violence and bloodshed during the peace negotiations.

The Tajikistan Supreme Court found Zaid Saidov, opposition leader and former minister, guilty of corruption and fraud and sentenced him to a 26-year prison term and the confiscation of all of his property. The government arrested Saidov after he formed a new opposition party, and critics claim his arrest is politically motivated. According to Eurasianet, many see this as “a blatant attempt to silence a charming reformist, while seizing the assets of one of Tajikistan’s wealthiest businessmen.”
.
Pray for political and religious freedom in this Asian nation.
.
Pray for President Emomali Rakhmon to believe in Jesus Christ.
.
Ask the Lord to remove the spirit of paranoia from the president.
.
Pray for justice and honor in the Tajikistan judicial system.

CHINA, EAST ASIA

The Chinese government passed new laws modifying the one-child policy and abolishing the practice of re-education through labor camps. Couples are now allowed two children if one of the parents is an only child. Previously, the law stated both parents needed to be only children. However, the one-child policy remains firmly in effect. Jiang Fan, member of the National People’s Congress, says, “We cannot risk the population growing out of control.” The labor camps are set for immediate termination, and all prisoners will be released. Nevertheless, Amnesty International believes the new labor law is merely a “cosmetic fix” because the labor camps are being replaced with “legal education camps.”
.
Praise God for the new regulations.
.
Pray for the government to stop using abortion as a means to control the population.
.
Pray for human rights freedoms in China.

Reporters Without Borders (RSF) expressed “concern” over the recent arrest of four journalists in Djibouti. In a statement, RSF said, “The way this systematic harassment is conducted would be absurd except that journalists are being deprived of their freedom and their health is being threatened. A journalist has been released one day and arrested again the next without reason.”
.
Pray for freedom of the press, freedom of speech, and freedom of expression in Djibouti.
.
Pray for the release of all journalists that are incarcerated without cause.
.
Pray for Djibouti Believers to freely speak of the hope they have in Jesus Christ.
