Klodian Repaj, Deputy Health Minister, says, “The last eleven months saw the highest number of HIV infections ever reported since the first case was detected 20 years ago in 1993. Men account for 70 percent of the cases, and about 93 percent of the infections occurred through the sexual route, attributed through unsafe sexual practices.” . There is a Moroccan proverb that says: “I hear what you say with my eyes.” In October Moroccan young people protested online over the trial of three teenagers for kissing on Facebook. That was followed by a public “kissing” protest by Moroccans living in France. The younger generation is seeking, through Facebook and other social media, to stand up and say: We do not like all the laws of Morocco. . Pray that the stability of Morocco would continue and the government would be wise as they care for people from the different generations. . Pray for the younger generation, who desire more freedoms than the older Islamic forces, to find freedom in Christ. . . IRAQ, MIDDLE EAST . Between them, the cities of Baghdad and Basra in Iraq have five to six million people. Within this area there is really no local Church and very few scattered Believers in Jesus Christ. This area is still a mess. . Pray against the continual violence. . Pray for God’s peace in this region of Iraq. . Pray for more workers to bring the name of the Lord to these people. . Pray for the few believers in Jesus to be strengthened in Him. . . SRI LANKA, SOUTH ASIA . Action Against Hunger (ACF) is blaming Sri Lanka’s military for the murders of seventeen of its employees in 2006. All of the unarmed aid workers were Tamils who were shot execution-style. After discovering that the Sri Lankan government silenced witnesses and blocked the investigation, the human rights group is demanding an international inquiry. In response, Brig Ruwan Wanigasooriya, spokesman for the Sri Lankan military, said, “This is another instance of a pattern which has emerged since the end of the conflict where certain organizations level allegations against the government without providing sufficient details to enable the investigation.” .
