“Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God” – (Psalm 20:7).

Thoughts for Today
.
The song “My Way” is a snapshot of how many people view life. They do not want to be told what to do, scoffing at any suggestion of submission. To many people, freedom means doing whatever they want, whenever they want, but true champions do not share this view.
.
As David neared his coronation as King of Israel, his life was getting extremely dangerous. King Saul knew David’s popularity was growing and he begrudged David for it. So much so that he decided he would kill David to end this problem. So Saul set out on a manhunt through the mountains in search of David.
.
Despite being the object of a heated pursuit, David refused to do things his way. Twice David had opportunities to kill Saul, yet he would not do it. Resisting the urging of a traveling companion, David said, “But the Lord forbid that I should lay a hand on the Lord’s anointed” – (1 Samuel 26:11).
.
David knew this was not God’s pathway for him to the throne of Israel. He had so much respect for God’s anointing on Saul to be the King of Israel in the first place that David refused to meddle with God’s plan. There was not a contemptuous bone in his body.
.
As true champions, we must realize God is the One who brings victory, and we must fulfill our roles as humble servants, submitting to His plan for our lives. Though the temptation may be to do things our way, especially when we know that God is leading us in a certain direction, we must resist that temptation and trust His timing. Doing things God’s way is the only way to go.
.
Prayer: Our Loving Heavenly Father, help me to follow Your ways and Your plans as You have laid them before me. Please help me to be wise and to be able discern your fulfillment of those plans. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, In Jesus Loving Name I Pray, Amen.”

In Tunisia, it appears that both democrats and al-Qaeda affiliated jihadists have the potential to shape the country’s future. The growing al-Qaeda presence threatens to destabilize Tunisia and undermine the democratic aspirations that fueled the Jasmine Revolution. The Salafists constitute a small group, but they are pushing for a rigid interpretation of Sharia Law.
.
Pray for Tunisia as it continues to face political struggles and economic hardships.
.
Pray that peace will come to this land so that tourism might start up again.
.
Pray for the small indigenous churches who are facing more pressure from Salafists and economic struggles.
.
Pray they put their hope in God.

In Phnom Penh, opposition leader Sam Rainsy and thousands of garment workers demanded Prime Minister Hun Sen’s resignation and a higher minimum wage. Violence erupted when the military attempted to relocate the demonstration to the outskirts of the city. Both sides reported injuries after workers hurled rocks at police. The authorities responded by firing warning shots and beating protesters with their batons. According to military spokesman Kheng Tito, “Because they used violence, we had to prevent them. If we did not fire warning shots into the air, they would have totally destroyed the economic zone.” Rong Chhun, president of the Cambodian Confederation of Unions, however, blames the military for the violence. Chhun said, “We strongly condemn the authorities for the violence against workers who are demanding an appropriate wage.”
.
Pray for peace in Cambodia.
.
Pray for the opposition, the garment workers, and the government to come to a swift, harmonious agreement.

Riot police in Istanbul used water cannons, plastic bullets, and tear gas on opposition protesters in December. Demonstrators retaliated with firecrackers and rocks at officials. Anti-government rallies were also held in Ankara and Izmir. The protests were in response to recent discoveries of government corruption and bribery. Critics believe Prime Minister Erdogan is “trying to stifle the investigation.”

Leader Kim Jong-un executed Jang Song-Thaek, his uncle, political adviser, and unofficial second-in-command, in December on charges of sedition and corruption. Since then, according to Sky News, “Two of Jang’s associates have also been executed, while Pyongyang reportedly recalled some diplomats or trade officials overseas who were believed to have been close to Jang.” Ryoo Kihl-Jae, Unification Minister for South Korea, says, “We are seeing signs that those who were deeply involved with Jang are being recalled and purged.” Critics say Kim Jong-un became jealous of his uncle’s political clout, and his execution may be a sign of political instability.
.
Pray for an end to tyranny and oppression in North Korea.
.
Pray for North Korean Christian Believers to share the Gospel despite the challenges of living under Jong-un’s repressive regime.

Pray for the North Korean leader to believe in Jesus Christ as his Savior.
