Thoughts for Today
.
Do you ever think about what it takes to be a “champion” for the Lord—or a person truly after God’s heart?
.
David was a champion for the Lord—not because he was a gallant warrior. In reality, David lived a very difficult life. In many cases it was tragic, lonely, and filled with broken dreams.
.
After the prophet Samuel anointed him king over Israel, David probably thought he was headed to Jerusalem. Instead, he ended up shivering in a dark and lonely hillside cave. Instead of accolades and praise, David lived life on the run from a king who was bent on killing him.
.
Here is what is noteworthy about David’s life: He never gave up. He never lost his confidence, and He always believed He would experience God’s victory—whether here on earth or in heaven. Though he sinned and stumbled in his witness for God, he never gave up and he never yielded his life of devotion to anyone other than the Lord.
.
He writes, “As a deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God” (Psalm 42:1). What do you do when sorrow comes? When disappointment fills your soul? David responded by being available to God. He never abandoned his devotion to the Lord. He sought humility over bitterness, repentance over resentment.
.
Prayer: Our Loving Heavenly Father, may I live my life the way David did—in repentance and trust. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, In Jesus Loving Name I Pray, Amen.”
.
Have a Blessed Friday and God Bless you.

YEMEN, ARABIAN PENINSULA
.
In eastern Yemen, tribesmen seized an oil ministry building in the Hadramout in Yemen. Hadramout means “death has come.” Yemen is one of the poorest Arab countries and the Hadramout is an extremely poor area within Yemen. It is also almost completely unreached by the Good News of the Lord Jesus Christ.
.
Pray people would come to know the Lord Jesus in the Hadramout.
.
Pray for peace in Yemen to facilitate the spread of the Gospel.
.
Pray Yemenis will be crucified with Christ and live anew in Him.

VIETNAM, SOUTHEAST ASIA
.
The Vietnamese parliament unanimously passed a new constitution, calling it a “historic moment.” However, Christian Believers fear the amended constitution will encourage more religious persecution. According to Mervyn Thomas, Chief Executive of Christian Solidarity Worldwide, “The constitution has disappointed religious leaders, intellectuals, activists, and former officials hoping for political reform by preserving the dominance of the Communist Party. Officials opposed to the growth of religion can use the constitution to repress religious leaders and groups.”
.
Pray for an end to communism in Vietnam.
.
Pray for freedom of religion and freedom of expression in this repressed nation.
.
Ask the Lord to shield the Vietnamese Church from oppression, harassment, and violence.

TAIWAN, EAST ASIA

According to The Washington Post, rebellious young people calling themselves the “White Shirt Army” are the “biggest, most surprising social movement in Taiwan’s recent history.” Their focus is not on independence from mainland China, but on particular government policies. Member Liulin Wei says, “We don’t support any side or leader. We are for civil rights, common values, democracy. And we made it very simple to join. You just put on a white shirt.” The group uses social media to promote its causes. Another member calling himself “DKW,” says, “The whole idea is that, just like online, it doesn’t matter who you are. Anyone can make their voice be heard.”
.
Pray for “White Shirt Army” members to find Jesus Christ and use their influence to promote the Gospel.
.
Pray for Taiwan’s young people to turn away from the typical pursuits of their generation and seek God.
.
Pray that they would influence true democracy in Taiwan.

BAHRAIN, ARABIAN PENINSULA
.
Since February 2011, thousands of protesters have staged numerous demonstrations in the streets of Bahrain, demanding that the ruling Al Khalifa family step down. Youth and children have been part of these demonstrations and some of them have been arrested for participating.
.
Pray for peace on the protestors who are promising to “continue to hold anti-regime demonstrations until their demands for the establishment of a democratically-elected government and an end to rights violations are met.”
.
Pray that the government will care for the human rights of people.
.
Pray that both sides will bring respect and honor to all peoples in Bahrain.
